We recently partnered with Honda to take the brand new 2017 Ridgeline Black Edition for a holiday roadtrip from Austin to Lake Charles, Louisiana. While my knowledge of cars is a little limited when it comes to technicalities and design specs, I have to become a bit of a car snob in my appreciation toward the fine level of fine detail and luxury that goes in to production of this vehicles. I’ve never owned a pick-up truck, but I’m confident enough to say that I’d be happy to drive one off the lot if it’s as amazing as the new Ridgeline.
As a food enthusiast it’s a challenge not to come off as a spoiled consumer, but its hard not to use my position to appreciate the finer things placed in front of me. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline is not an organic, grass-fed chef’s made masterpiece, but it is a masterpiece non-the-less. Use whatever analogy you prefer, but the Ridgeline is the truck any enthusiast of any profession would appreciate.
Everything Matters
The Ridgeline Black Edition is tuned for attitude and the features of seem nearly endless. From the dual-action tailgate, the lockable in-bed trunk. There are also LED taillights, a push-button start and a console shifter, a 4.2-inch LCD touch screen, 7 speakers, USB port, Bluetooth phone and audio as well as a multi-angle rearview camera.
It’s entire design is meant to be versitle with a host of innovations that actually challenge the way you view trucks. It’s designed to comfortably seat 4 people and perfect for daily commuting as well as long road trips. To truly appreciate a vehicle of this caliber I took it on short road trip to Louisiana to visit (and to show it off) a few friends and family. The Ridgeline isn’t limited to the A-typical, truck driving guy but it’s got the capability and the looks for nearly any truck enthusiast.
The handling and the suspension of the ridgeline is incredibly smooth and nearly glides across the highway like a hovercraft. The Honda Ridgeline provides a smooth and easy ride for any mid-sized truck and makes a bold statement for this Honda’s reintroduction of this vehicle.
Sweet enough to showoff
People drive luxury vehicles for comfort, reliability and most importantly, an approving nod from our peers. The Ridgeline attracts nearly all eyes on the road you’re looking for the vanity of attention it demands. The Ridgeline is the proverbial chick magnet of mid-sized pick-up trucks and it’s easy to see why it’s become one of the most highly rated vehicles since the first model was introduced in years past.
From a pure vanity perspective, nearly everyone should be able to appreciate the sleekness of the Ridgeline. It feels as though Honda held nothing back in their production, short of making it fly. From its Crystal Black Pearl paint and gloss black exterior moldings to the complementary black chrome accents and the 18” Black Alloy Wheels, the Black Edition is makes a bold statement in the pick-up truck world.
