Two of the most advanced ultra luxury ships at sea, Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Eclipse II, met for the first time in Seville on May 9, marking a milestone for Scenic’s growing presence in the Mediterranean.

The moment stands out for one key reason. These ships are among the few ocean vessels capable of navigating the Guadalquivir River, allowing guests to sail directly into the heart of the city instead of docking outside and transferring in. It creates a more direct arrival into one of Spain’s most historic destinations.

To mark the occasion, both vessels were welcomed by representatives from the Port of Seville along with local officials. Captains from each ship participated in a ceremonial exchange, while guests experienced a traditional flamenco horse presentation that reflected the region’s cultural identity.

The evening continued with a private event at Casa de Pilatos, one of the city’s most recognized landmarks. The setting, known for its blend of Renaissance, Mudéjar, and Gothic architecture, hosted a curated program that included local cuisine, live flamenco performances, and an opera performance accompanied by piano.

The gathering also highlighted Scenic’s relationship with the Port of Seville, which supports these rare river arrivals and helps shape the overall guest experience in the destination.

Scenic currently operates both Eclipse vessels in the Mediterranean, with itineraries that focus on combining smaller scale access with high end onboard experiences. A third ship, Scenic Ikon, is under construction and expected to join the fleet in the region in 2028 as the brand continues to expand its discovery yacht collection.

For travelers, the ability to arrive directly into Seville by ship offers a different way to experience the city, with immediate access to its architecture, culture, and historic districts.
