Pizza in Austin is usually about late nights, long lines, and arguing over toppings. Color Arc is bringing back its fourth annual storytelling showcase, “Stories About Pizza,” and it is exactly what it sounds like. A fast moving, all Austin lineup of poets, comedians, musicians, and performers delivering original pieces inspired by pizza. Not metaphor pizza. Actual pizza.
Presented with support from Via 313, the event leans into the same energy that built the brand in the first place. Creative, a little chaotic, and rooted in community.
The night opens with a screening of Color Arc’s short film “Pizza My Heart,” which is now streaming on PBS, before jumping straight into a rapid fire “Pizza Pieces” segment where performers deliver quick hit stories and acts in under a minute. Think speed dating, but for creative people who probably have strong opinions about crust.

The lineup pulls from dancers, musicians, storytellers, and artists who all approach the same idea from completely different angles. That variety keeps the energy up and the audience guessing. One minute it is a heartfelt story about growing up around pizza, the next it is a joke that probably should not work but somehow lands anyway.
Via 313 has always leaned into personality just as much as product, and this event pushes that idea even further by giving the stage to the community around it.
There is also an open call element baked in. Central Texas artists were invited to submit original one minute pieces ahead of the show, with selected performers earning a spot in the live lineup. That alone keeps the event feeling fresh every year.
If you are looking for something different from the usual Austin night out rotation, this is an easy pivot. It is low cost, high energy, and just weird enough to feel like you found something before everyone else starts posting about it.
