South Lamar is about to get a little more royal. This October, Koko’s Bavarian will open its newest beer hall at 3003 South Lamar Boulevard, where Bavarian heritage collides with Texas hospitality in a way that feels both international and unmistakably Austin. And yes, one of the partners is an actual Bavarian prince. Not the “self-proclaimed prince” you run into at Barton Springs who wants to sell you essential oils, but Konstantin Prinz von Bayern—a real prince of Bavaria who goes by Koko.
“Here in Central Texas, where German roots run deep, it is an honor to share a legacy that connects my family’s history with the region’s traditions,” Koko explains. Translation: pretzels, sausages, and beer are not just food, they are cultural diplomacy.
A Beer Hall with Bite
The South Lamar space clocks in at a sprawling seven thousand square feet, which means plenty of room for long communal tables, big crowds, and the kind of high-energy nights where strangers become friends over a basket of fries. On the menu you will find everything from Bavarian pretzels and specialty sausages to wings, mozzarella sticks, fried bologna sandwiches, cheeseburgers, and whitefish dip. It is as if a classic German beer hall stopped for a Whataburger run on the way over.
The bar program has some serious Austin pedigree. Curated by Travis Tober of Nickel City and Murray’s Tavern, the drinks lineup will include signature cocktails, frozen creations, and an expansive draft and bottled beer list. Whether you are after an old world German pilsner or a neon slushy cocktail that screams “Austin Saturday night,” you are covered.

Sports, Patios, and Big Screens
Koko’s is not only about beer and bratwurst. The space includes a two thousand square foot patio shaded by live oaks, complete with some of the largest screens in the city for sports viewing. So whether you are watching soccer with the prince or football with your neighbor who has been on his third Coors since noon, the experience will feel elevated.
Since its first East Austin location opened in 2021, Koko’s Bavarian has expanded far beyond the city limits. The brand has popped up at the Moody Center, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and more than seventy entertainment venues across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. South Lamar is the next chapter, a neighborhood anchor that still feels plugged into the global stage.
Raising a Stein to October
Koko’s Bavarian South Lamar is slated to open this October, just in time for beer-drinking season. Expect sausages, pretzels, cocktails, frozen concoctions, and the kind of Austin energy that makes even a Bavarian prince feel right at home.
