Hot Luck is heading back to Austin this fall with two days of live fire cooking, cold drinks, live music, and a chef lineup built for people who take their weekend eating very seriously.
The annual food and music festival returns October 16 and 17, bringing events to Franklin Barbecue and Assembly Hall. Tickets are on sale now at hotluckfest.com.
The weekend starts Friday, October 16, with Giddy Up at Franklin Barbecue from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The festival’s signature live fire feast brings chefs together for a stroll and sample style event inspired by backyard gatherings, potlucks, and the kind of outdoor cooking that makes people suddenly develop very strong opinions about smoke, fire, and meat.
Whole Enchilada pass holders will also receive complimentary admission to Hot Luck’s marquee music showcase at Mohawk, with performers still to be announced.
On Saturday, October 17, Hot Luck moves to Assembly Hall for House Party from 6 to 9 p.m. The larger culinary event will feature chefs from Austin and across the country serving creative dishes in an indoor outdoor party setting with drinks and live music throughout the night.
This year’s chef lineup includes Aaron Bludorn of Bludorn, Becky Masson of Fluff Bake Bar, Bob Somsith of Lao’d Bar, Calvin Eng of Bonnie’s, Edgar Rico of Nixta Taqueria, Evan LeRoy of LeRoy & Lewis Barbecue, Fermín Núñez of Este, Kevin Fink of Emmer & Rye, Mason Hereford of Turkey and the Wolf, Tavel Bristol Joseph of Canje, Tracy Malechek Ezekiel of Birdie’s, Todd Duplechan of Lenoir and Dovetail Pizza, and more. Additional chefs will be announced in the coming months.
“The best part of Hot Luck has always been getting a bunch of incredibly talented people together and letting them cook, play music, and have a good time,” said co founder Aaron Franklin.
Hot Luck recently joined People Inc.’s growing live events portfolio, which also includes the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, the Food & Wine Classic in Charleston, and Southern Living’s Hill Country Tailgate in Fredericksburg. Franklin and James Moody remain involved in guiding the festival’s future.
Hot Luck will also continue its partnership with Southern Smoke Foundation, which supports food and beverage workers facing financial, medical, disaster related, and personal crises.
Ticket options include the Whole Enchilada Pass for $349, the Family Pack Pass for $700, and the Youngster Pass for ages 13 to 20 for $100.
