Honest Mary’s cafe is heading downtown.
The Austin born grain bowl restaurant will open its new Seaholm location on Tuesday, July 14, at 222 West Ave., Suite 120. It marks the company’s sixth Texas restaurant and its first downtown Austin outpost, bringing its gluten free bowls, sipping broths, aguas frescas, and office friendly catering setup to one of the city’s busiest mixed use districts.
The opening also comes with a full circle Austin story for founder and CEO Nelson Monteith. Before Honest Mary’s launched in 2017, Monteith worked inside the original Seaholm power plant, years before the area transformed into a polished dining, shopping, and residential hub. Now, the restaurant he built is opening in the same district.
“I remember thinking how great it would have been to have a place like Honest Mary’s nearby,” Monteith said in the release. “Getting to serve this community with the kind of nourishing food we believe in feels full circle.”
Monteith leads the company with co owner and COO Andrew Wiseheart, who co founded Austin’s Contigo and Nashville’s Ladybird Taco. Honest Mary’s currently operates locations in Austin and Houston, with another Houston restaurant planned for Greenside in late 2026.

For opening day, Honest Mary’s will give away free bowls from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The first 100 people in line will also draw for a chance to win one of five prizes for free Honest Mary’s for a year, which includes one bowl per week for 52 weeks. The event is walk in only, so yes, this is one of those “show up early or watch someone else eat your free lunch” situations.
The Seaholm menu will include Honest Mary’s full lineup of signature bowls, including Smoky Poblano, Aloha Poke, Garlic Pepper Chimichurri, Honey Mustard Chicken, and Sedona Lime. Guests can also build their own bowls with bases like basmati rice, quinoa, and organic greens, plus proteins such as grilled chicken, line caught tuna, grilled steak, and organic baked tofu.
The menu also includes market sides like sweet potatoes, broccoli with sesame, and sweet corn, with toppings such as pickled onions, cucumber salad, and avocado. Sauces include creamy poblano, lemon garlic, and cashew lime crema.
The entire menu is gluten free and includes vegan, vegetarian, and dairy free options. Honest Mary’s also emphasizes organic sourcing when possible, using guidance from the Environmental Working Group’s Dirty Dozen list. The restaurant serves wild caught tuna and meat raised without added hormones. The menu is seed oil free, with the exception of the Creamy Poblano and Lemon Garlic sauces.
Beyond bowls, the restaurant serves organic chicken bone broth and seaweed and mushroom broth, along with almond butter cookies with Maldon salt, house made aguas frescas, yaupon tea, local craft beer, wine, kombucha, and organic cold pressed juices.

The 1,500 square foot Seaholm restaurant was designed by Cline, formerly Mark Odom Studio, and built by Franklin Alan, the same Austin based general contractor behind Honest Mary’s Mueller location. The design takes cues from Seaholm’s Art Deco and industrial history, with indoor seating, shaded outdoor dining, greenery, wood details, and a dedicated to go area with its own entrance.
From Tuesday, July 14, through Sunday, July 19, Honest Mary’s will donate $1 from every bowl sold to Mobile Loaves & Fishes, the Austin nonprofit that serves people experiencing homelessness through mobile outreach and supportive housing.
Honest Mary’s Seaholm will serve lunch and dinner daily with dine in, takeaway, online ordering, pickup, delivery, and catering available.
