Central Austin is about to sprout something special. Flourish Plant Shop and Wine Bar officially opens Friday October 24 at 5003 Airport Blvd with an all day celebration that blends neighborhood hangout energy with plenty of wine. The party runs from 11am to 10pm starting with a ribbon cutting then local artists from 11 to 4 a happy hour from 4 to 6 and a full grand opening party from 6 to 10. Expect tastings plant shopping and a crowd that will likely adopt something leafy before going home.
Founders Rachel Roberts and Dale Ellington built Flourish around two passions. Plants and hospitality. Roberts is a lifelong Austinite with a career that includes Fonda San Miguel and Tacodeli before launching Flourish as a North Loop shop that evolved into a full service plant design and care business. Now those roots return to a public space layered in foliage and cozy corners.
Ellington brings more than thirteen years of wine knowledge and a philosophy built on joy not intimidation. He wants guests to breathe a little deeper when they walk in sip something new and feel good doing it. Think wine spa energy minus cucumber robes.
Guests can browse curated houseplants gifts and botanical accessories while chatting with the team. The space feels friendly enough that you could show up solo and still end up swapping plant care hacks with strangers. It is the kind of Austin spot designed to linger.
A Look at the Menu
The By the Glass wine selection rotates through more than two dozen whites reds and sparklings keeping things playful. By the Bottle dives into classic and emerging regions including Europe South Africa Texas and women led wineries. Expect Sancerre Pinot pét nat and the occasional bottle you swear you discovered first. Small plates encourage snacking and conversation. Think meat and cheese boards preserved seafood olives almonds and housemade chips. Dessert pairings lean cheeky with combos like Oreo cookies and cream sherry or a Snickers bar with Madeira.
Flourish also offers a Cool Kids Membership with exclusive happy hours plant discounts wine club perks tastings workshops and seasonal gatherings. Basically a loyalty badge for people who collect greenery and grapes equally.
