Austin diners have a rare opportunity this weekend to experience the work of a chef whose career has taken him from Texas to some of the most celebrated kitchens in the country.

Midnight in the Garden is welcoming Fort Worth native and Netflix Next Gen Chef winner Andrew Sargent for “Comin’ Back Texas,” a limited run dining event featuring a nine course tasting menu inspired by his Texas roots.

The dinner marks Sargent’s first culinary return to Texas in more than a decade. During that time, he built an impressive resume working at Daniel Boulud’s renowned New York restaurant Daniel and helping lead kitchen operations at Thomas Keller’s three Michelin starred Per Se.

For this homecoming menu, Sargent is blending local flavors with techniques refined through years of fine dining experience.

Guests can expect dishes such as Catfish Hush Puppy with green tomato chow chow and Louisiana hot sauce emulsion, Tequila Cured Hiramasa with Texas Ranch Water aguachile, and Foie & Peaches paired with streusel, black pepper crème fraîche, and macerated peaches.

The menu also includes Braised and Grilled Short Rib served with bone marrow refried beans and squash mole amarillo, followed by a Corn Semifreddo featuring blackberry, caramelized white chocolate, and caramel corn.

The event also offers a preview of what’s next for the chef, who is currently developing his first restaurant in New York City.

Known for its intimate chef’s table format, Midnight in the Garden regularly hosts visiting chefs and unique dining experiences in a private setting that emphasizes hospitality and direct interaction between guests and the culinary team.

While Friday’s seatings have already sold out, tickets remain available for select Saturday and Sunday dinners.
