Now open at 2214 South First Street, Alice Poulain Café is bringing an authentic Parisian café and pâtisserie experience to Austin with house made pastries, French wines, imported cheeses, breakfast favorites, and a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere inspired by the streets of Paris.

The new concept comes from founders Julian Buscicchio and Sebastian Menard, who combined backgrounds in pastry and hospitality to create a café rooted in family tradition. The café is named after Julian’s grandmother, Alice, whose handwritten recipe book became the inspiration behind the business.

After serving in the French military, Julian returned to Paris to continue his pastry training and eventually rediscovered his grandmother’s recipes. Today, those same recipes help shape the menu at Alice Poulain, where every cake, pastry, and quiche is made by hand using classical French techniques.

The café serves breakfast daily with offerings including the Signature Breakfast Sandwich made with local organic scrambled eggs, bacon, Brie, arugula, and caramelized onions on a pretzel bun. Guests can also opt for the Parisian Breakfast featuring croissants, eggs, coffee, fresh orange juice, butter, and jam.

Throughout the day, the menu expands to include French café classics such as Croque Monsieur, Quiche Lorraine, Salade Niçoise, omelets, and charcuterie boards featuring imported French cheeses and cured meats.

Pastry lovers will find butter croissants, pain au chocolat, cinnamon brioche, and the café’s signature madeleines available in rotating flavors including chocolate, vanilla, citrus, and berry.

Wine service begins in the afternoon with a curated selection of French and American wines available by the glass or bottle.

Housed inside a charming bungalow on South First Street, Alice Poulain was designed to serve as a true neighborhood gathering place. With a dog friendly patio, space for remote workers, classic French music, and owners who are regularly on site, the café aims to offer Austinites a relaxed place to start the day, catch up with friends, or simply slow down for a while.
