Tumble 22 Hot Chicken is expanding again in its hometown, with two new Austin restaurants headed to the Arboretum and South Lamar.
The Austin-born hot chicken joint will open its Northwest Austin location on November 7 at 9761 Great Hills Trail, across from Trader Joe’s. A second restaurant at 2929 S. Lamar Blvd. is planned for 2027.
Tumble 22 isn’t easing quietly into the Arboretum. The first 75 guests through the doors on November 7 will receive a free O.G. sandwich once a month for an entire year. So yes, expect a line.

The new restaurant will serve the familiar lineup that helped Tumble 22 grow from a single Austin food truck in 2016 to nearly a dozen Texas restaurants. That includes the O.G. sandwich, jumbo tenders, bone-in chicken and Heavenly Eggs, plus collard greens, mac ’n cheese, salads, house-made sauces and pies.
Tumble 22 uses all-natural, Texas-raised chicken that is hand-breaded and, true to the name, tumbled 22 times before frying.
The Arboretum opening will also put some money back into the community. During Friends & Family events on October 30 and 31, all net proceeds will benefit Lone Star Circle of Care’s Big Pink Bus, which provides breast cancer screenings throughout Central Texas, and Heroes Resource Center, a Cedar Park nonprofit supporting veterans, service members and their families.
Ten years after Tumble 22 started as an Austin food truck, the brand continues to grow without wandering too far from what built its following in the first place: hot chicken, Southern sides and a neighborhood-joint mentality.
Tumble 22 Arboretum opens November 7 at 9761 Great Hills Trail, Suite B. The South Lamar location is expected to open in 2027 at 2929 S. Lamar Blvd.
