The ACL Survival Guide 2026 starts with something Austin should have learned by now: don’t wear brand-new white sneakers to Zilker Park.
ACL Fest returns October 2-4 and October 9-11, bringing six days of music, food, crowds and whatever Texas decides to do with the weather. You already know who’s playing. This guide is about everything between the sets: what to bring, where to cool down, what to eat and a few festival perks worth knowing before you walk through the gates.
Before You Head to Zilker
First, the weather. ACL organizers are preparing for rain ahead of Weekend 1, clearing drains, pre-positioning equipment and accelerating setup around Zilker. Festival officials are recommending rain boots and telling fans to monitor official channels for updates. You can also text ACL to 64934 for SMS alerts or turn on notifications in the Festiverse app.
Translation: bring a poncho and wear shoes you’re willing to get dirty. Umbrellas aren’t allowed. Bring an empty reusable water bottle, portable battery, non-aerosol sunscreen no larger than 3.4 ounces and a few factory-sealed electrolyte packets.
Activate your wristband before leaving home and link a card for cashless payments. ACL is completely cashless this year, including food, drinks, merchandise and lockers.
There’s also no parking at Zilker Park or in the surrounding neighborhood, so figure out your transportation plan before heading out rather than improvising once you’re already on Barton Springs Road.
Gates open at noon every day.

Water, Shade and Surviving the Afternoon
Water is free at ACL. Bring an empty plastic or aluminum bottle and refill it at the Electrolit Hydration Stations throughout the park.
The biggest new survival tool might be The Big Chiller, a 40-foot-long walk-in freezer built specifically to give festivalgoers a blast of cold air between sets.
Yes, ACL built a human refrigerator. You’ll find it between the BMI and Snapchat stages, directly beside The Big Shade, where you can cool down, grab food or merch and figure out where your friends disappeared to.
The Big Tent has also been upgraded for 2026 with more comfortable seating, cocktails, frozen drinks, Bambino Pizza, live stage feeds and televised games.
There’s even a new Disco Dive Secret Hang with air conditioning, DJs and specialty cocktails. It’s open to everyone but deliberately left off the festival map. ACL’s only clue for finding it: head south.
Honestly, that’s enough information. Half the fun is finding the damn thing.

Where to Eat at ACL
ACL Eats remains one of the better arguments for skipping the sad granola bar buried at the bottom of your bag.
The festival’s food lineup includes Austin favorites such as P. Terry’s, JuiceLand, Cuantos Tacos, Chi’Lantro, KG BBQ, Salt & Time, Hawk’s Hot Chicken, T-Loc’s Sonora Hot Dogs and plenty more.
You’ll also find roaming vendors carrying desserts, snacks and festival necessities throughout Zilker, along with frozen drinks and food options spread around the park.

Our advice: eat earlier than you think you need to.
Mid-afternoon generally gives you a better chance at shorter lines before the evening crowds settle in. Waiting until you’re starving is how you end up deep in a food line while somebody you actually wanted to see starts playing on the other side of Zilker.
Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available throughout ACL Eats.
For drinks, Hacienda PATRÓN returns as a two-story tequila escape for guests 21 and older with cocktails, vinyl DJs and other surprises. Rambler Roadhouse offers sparkling water, cocktails and shade, while Recess Unwind Club has mocktails, cocktails, samples and custom merch.
Hydration first. Margaritas second. We’re all adults here.

A Few Perks Worth Knowing About
Before spending money on an upgrade, check what’s already in your wallet. Eligible American Express Centurion, Platinum, Business Platinum and Corporate Platinum Card Members can access a dedicated side-stage lounge near the American Express Stage with up to two guests, subject to capacity. You’ll need the physical card or one stored in your digital wallet.
Eligible Amex cardholders can also link their card to an ACL wristband for cashless payments and receive a $10 festival credit.
Eligible T-Mobile customers and two guests can access Club Magenta near the T-Mobile Stage, with shade, seating, charging and a private bar. Members can also get complimentary lockers and lawn chairs.
You don’t need the right credit card to score a few freebies. That Tito’s Thing has a claw machine, swag, shade and a photo booth, while BeatBox Music Mirage offers charging, giveaways, hair braiding and airbrush body art.
BeatBox is also bringing back their namsake stage both weekends where the stage will host an exciting lineup of artists to the ACL crowd, including Blood Orange, Noga Erez, Palace and Ryan Beatty among others – the full BeatBox Stage artist schedule can be found here. They’re also hosting the BeatBox Music Mirage, an immersive fan experience packed with a photo moment, games and giveaways with a chance to win VIP access to the BeatBox Stage Lounge, a private hospitality experience featuring exclusive BeatBox Merch and much more!
ACL’s 25th anniversary also makes Y’all Mart worth a stop. Look for old festival artwork, merchandise featuring the original 2002 ACL logo and photos from the festival’s early years.

Bringing Kids to ACL
Children 8 and younger get in free with a ticketed adult, with a maximum of two children per adult.
Austin Kiddie Limits serves as the family hub with activities, snacks and giveaways. Strollers up to 31 by 52 inches are allowed, but wagons aren’t.
As the presenting sponsor of Austin Kiddie Limits, Lifeway is bringing free ProBugs and Lifeway Kefir samples, an interactive art mural, live music and family-friendly fun to the festival. Kids under 8 are admitted free with an adult ticket holder, making it an easy add to any family’s ACL weekend itinerary.
Guest Services has earplugs, and the Main Guest Services Tent serves as the official meeting point if anyone gets separated.

The Best ACL Advice Is Still Pretty Simple
ACL has become a temporary city inside Zilker Park, but getting through a full day doesn’t require military planning.
Bring water. Wear shoes you trust. Charge your phone. Eat before you’re starving. Find shade before you desperately need it.
Leave some room in the schedule. Sometimes the best part of ACL is the set you didn’t plan to see, the taco you found without a line or sitting under a tree for 20 minutes while everyone else is sprinting across Zilker.
Have a plan. Just don’t let the plan become the festival.
