Austin, get ready to welcome a second helping of Local Foods. The farm-focused restaurant group known for its scratch-made dishes made from Texas-based food is opening a new location at 3800 North Lamar Boulevard in late Spring 2026. Think of it as your future go-to for everything from coffee and pastries in the morning to cocktails and desserts at night.
The new Local Foods will run daily with lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, plus weekday mornings on the patio where you can grab coffee or matcha with a pastry while pretending you are being productive. Inside, the design team at Chioco Design has dreamed up a space with a spacious dining room, a full bar, and a wraparound patio that is dog-friendly. Translation: your dog is about to become a regular.
The menu is built for everyday cravings with a focus on quality ingredients from Texas farms and ranches. Expect all the Local Foods classics like the Crunchy Chicken Sandwich on a toasted pretzel bun, the Truffled Egg Salad Sandwich made with Swift Hill Farm eggs, and the Seasonal Harvest Salad with Texas goat cheese. Market sides will rotate with seasonal fruit, Tuscan kale, and those potato chips that are basically impossible to stop eating.

Dinner will expand into entrees that highlight fresh seafood, Texas beef, and a lineup of vegetarian and vegan dishes that actually taste like they belong on the table. Do not sleep on the Banh Mi with Falcon Lake Farms pork, the Chopped Green Salad, or the Salmon Poke Bowl. And if you have a sweet tooth, the Very Very Chocolate Chip Cookie and the Carrot Cupcake with vegan buttercream will certainly hit the spot.
Behind Local Foods is a crew of UT grads with some serious Texas food history. Founder Benjy Levit, chef and co-founder Dylan Murray, and partner Martin Berson have decades of hospitality experience and a deep love for Austin. Their sourcing philosophy connects the dots between producers and plates, pulling in everything from 44 Farms beef and Lone Star goat cheese to HiFi Mycology mushrooms and Evergreen Chai. It’s farm to table without the pretentious eye roll.
Local Foods also offers catering for office lunches, events, and backyard parties that deserve better than a stack of pizzas. Menus can be found at catering.localfoodstexas.com.
Austin welcomed Local Foods to its first location in the 2nd Street District back in 2022, and the city is clearly hungry for more. The 38th and Lamar spot promises to be bigger, bolder, and built for all day hangs. Keep an eye out for the opening this coming spring, and in the meantime, you might want to start saving room for that epic carrot cupcake.
