Tucked in Austin’s Crestview neighborhood, Black Gold has quietly been building a rep for solid barbecue and good vibes. This summer, they’re doubling down on both.

With a new focus on dinner and happy hour, Black Gold’s updated hours now run 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and 3 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The new menu brings a strong lineup of weekday happy hour deals, including $10 brisket burgers, $5 frozen cocktails, and a full range of drink specials that make post-work stops a no-brainer.

They’re also celebrating national drink days with themed specials. You’ll find $5 margaritas on National Tequila Day (July 24), $4 IPAs on National IPA Day (Aug. 7), and a lineup of rum and whiskey cocktails through mid to late August. The drinks are good. The prices are better.

But the real standout is happening on Saturday, August 2. Black Gold is hosting a Hawaiian-style luau complete with a whole pig cookout, tiki drinks, live music, and water activities for kids. The party runs from 1 to 8 p.m., and yes, Hawaiian shirts are strongly encouraged.

They’ve even expanded the space to include an outdoor playground, so families can actually relax while the kids run around.

If you’re looking for a local spot to cool off, fill up, and hang out, Black Gold might be exactly what you need.
