Downtown Austin has no shortage of good looking restaurants, but not all of them give you a reason to slow down and actually stay awhile. Serenade is leaning into exactly that with the debut of a new dinner menu that feels more intentional, a little more refined, and built for a longer night at the table.

Located inside the W Austin in the 2nd Street District, Serenade is stepping into a new chapter with Executive Sous Chef Stephen Kozak helping shape the kitchen’s direction. The approach blends classic French technique with ingredient driven cooking and just enough Texas influence to keep things grounded.

The menu itself reads like something that knows what it is doing without trying too hard. House made conchiglie pasta sits next to steak frites, while chilled Argentinian shrimp comes with a bouillabaisse inspired broth that leans into deeper flavor without feeling heavy. There is a crisp skinned chicken rôti, Ora King salmon, and a heritage pork porterhouse, along with a burger built from house ground beef and pancetta that feels like it is not just there as a backup option.

One of the early standouts has been the house made gougères. Light, airy, and served warm with bacon jam, they hit that balance between French technique and something a little more familiar. It is the kind of starter that ends up disappearing faster than expected.

Chef Kozak’s background shows up in the details. Trained in Milwaukee and shaped by time with hospitality groups like The Pfister Hotel and Bartolotta Restaurants, his style leans toward honoring classic foundations while still pushing for something that feels current and approachable.

Beyond dinner, Serenade is building out more reasons to stop in throughout the week. Brunch is served daily, happy hour offers 50 percent off all beverages and select appetizers, and Tuesday Frites Night adds a more casual midweek draw. The patio, with live music every second and fourth Thursday, gives the space a little more flexibility, especially as the weather starts to cooperate.

There are also a few practical perks that do not go unnoticed downtown. Complimentary valet parking is included for guests, which in this part of the city feels less like a bonus and more like a necessity.

With its location steps from ACL Live and positioned inside one of downtown’s busiest corridors, Serenade fits naturally into pre show dinners, post show drinks, and nights where you are not in a rush to leave.
