My name is Linda Nguyen and I blog over at Girl Eats World and gram over at Curious Notions. I’ve lived in Austin since 2001 so I’ve seen the rise and rise of Austin, Texas. Most exciting of Austin’s growth is what it did to our food scene, which spurred my long journey of writing about food on my blog and my recent journey to Sway with Austin Food Magazine.

During our visit, we sampled some of their new items, like the pad ki, a noodle dish with roasted chicken and hunglay curry with snow pea, and the Hx Slad Ki, a roasted chicken lettuce wrap with green chili sauce and hearts of lemongrass.

Along side the new dishes, we ordered some of our favorites. Hayden ordered the whole crispy market fish, which that night was the Branzino. Talk about presentation, amiright?  We also ordered one of my favorite dishes in Austin, the Son-in-Law, a crispy farm egg with braised pork shoulder. You mix it all up and you get this eggy unami concoction that will stimulate your salivary glands.

There are so many reasons I’m in love Sway. From the Son-In-Law, spicy noodle dishes and curries, to that beautiful patio and the desserts, I’m a sentimental sap.  I also love that this is where I celebrated my first anniversary with my boyfriend, Sugarface. Eating at Sway after watching Die Hard was the best anniversary celebration I could hope for. So come here for celebrations, or casual dates with your boo or bestie. Try their brunch. (Hint: their chicken and waffles from their brunch menu are no basic chicken and waffles.) Report back!

It was lovely meeting you. Till next column!
