New Orleans, LA – October 22, 2024 – I had the privilege of attending the grand opening of Caesars New Orleans, celebrating the completion of a spectacular $435 million transformation of the former Harrah’s New Orleans. The evening was a dazzling blend of excitement, luxury, and the unique spirit of New Orleans that made it an unforgettable experience.

The festivities kicked off on Canal Street with an exhilarating ceremony led by Caesars Entertainment CEO Tom Reeg, President & COO Anthony Carano, and Caesars New Orleans General Manager Samir Mowad. The atmosphere was charged with energy as they were joined by Caesar himself and a vibrant New Orleans second-line band, marching in a lively procession into the casino. It felt like the entire city had come together for this historic moment, with Caesars New Orleans team members and Mayor LaToya Cantrell also on hand to mark the occasion.

Anthony Carano’s excitement about bringing Caesars to New Orleans was palpable. “From local favorite Emeril Lagasse to our long-time partner Chef Nobu, to the cutting-edge Caesars Sportsbook, newly renovated rooms, a refreshed gaming floor, and of course, our stunning new center bar, Octavia, Caesars New Orleans offers something for everyone. It’s a world-class resort in the heart of the Big Easy, and we can’t wait for our guests to experience it,” he shared.

The grand opening ceremony was nothing short of spectacular, beginning with an iconic Mardi Gras float carrying Caesar and his court, followed by a breathtaking fireworks display that lit up the New Orleans skyline. Revelers were then led by a lively second-line band into the resort’s sophisticated center bar, Octavia, where guests enjoyed a “Taste of Caesars New Orleans.” Each bite from the resort’s six on-site restaurants offered a culinary journey that captured the essence of New Orleans’ rich food culture.

Throughout the evening, elemental performers, including the Saints Cheer Krewe, Mardi Gras Indians, Zulu Tramps, and showgirls, added to the immersive and unforgettable Big Easy experience. Everywhere I looked, there was something new to admire, with each performance more captivating than the last.

Samir Mowad, SVP and GM of Caesars New Orleans, reflected on the significance of the transformation, stating, “This year marks 25 years since we opened in New Orleans, and the completion of this project is the perfect way to usher in a new era for Caesars. Synonymous with the Caesars name, our new resort exudes elegance, and we’re thrilled to introduce a luxury brand like this to New Orleans. We are incredibly grateful for the community’s support, our team members, and our guests as we celebrate the completion of this remarkable transformation.”

The hotel at Caesars New Orleans is truly a sight to behold, featuring nearly 800 lavish rooms spread across the new Caesars Tower and the original hotel tower on Poydras Street. The resort’s expansive gaming area covers over 150,000 square feet, offering more than 1,300 slot machines, 120 table games, a 20-table World Series of Poker Room, three outdoor gaming courtyards, and a cutting-edge Caesars Sportsbook. Unfortunately, my time in town was brief, so I didn’t get a chance to try my luck, but I’ll definitely make it a priority on my next visit!

The resort’s culinary offerings are equally impressive, with Louisiana’s first Nobu, Emeril’s Brasserie by renowned chef Emeril Lagasse, a celebrity-driven food hall featuring options from Bobby Flay, Buddy Valastro, and Nina Compton, and the chic new center bar, Octavia, providing a luxurious setting to unwind.
