A new bar just opened on West 6th Street. But don’t roll your eyes just yet.

This one’s not trying to be another clone of whatever’s trending in Los Angeles or a rooftop dressed up like Miami. Revenge Bar, now open at 507 West Avenue, is aiming for something more honest. More Austin. And it shows.

Designed by the Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, which pretty much guarantees it’s going to look incredible, the space walks the line between moody and warm. You get a little glam, but nothing overdone. The lighting is low, the energy is high, and the whole place feels like the kind of bar where you might bump into someone who actually lives in town.

Founder Emily Smitheal says the idea came from a mix of frustration and love. Frustration with the way the city’s nightlife has started leaning into something that feels like a reboot of Vegas. And love for the service industry and people who built Austin’s character in the first place.

She says it best. Revenge Bar is about reclaiming what makes Austin feel like Austin.

The cocktail menu follows suit. It is playful without trying too hard, elevated but still fun. The Devil Made Me Do It is a spicy margarita with orange, lime, blackberry, and a solid agave finish. There’s also a cold-foam espresso martini called Sleep On It, Sweetheart that somehow works way better than it should. And Brushfire is probably the most Austin thing on the menu, with mezcal, sage, jalapeño, clarified milk, and a little grapefruit heat.

They’ve got beer, wine, and nonalcoholic options too, so nobody gets left out.

There’s a cozy indoor space and now a patio open for the nights when the weather cooperates. On weekends, expect DJs and late-night sets that give the whole place a loose, after-hours vibe. No giant LED wall. No bottle service drama. Just music and people.

Revenge Bar is open Tuesday through Sunday. Happy Hour runs daily from 4 to 6 p.m. with half off bottles of wine and drink specials that don’t feel like leftovers. You can follow along at @revengeatx or check out the full menu at revengebar.com.

It is not about making noise. It is about making a point. And honestly, it makes it pretty well.
