Mongers Market + Kitchen, the neighborhood ocean-to-table eatery and fresh-seafood shop, is taking advantage of the change of season, offering Austin some new specialty dishes perfect for devouring on Mongers’ relaxed covered patio for dining this autumn, while also adding a weekly Austin-centric taco special and welcoming the upcoming holiday season with some custom seafood offerings and special events.
Prepared to order by Chef Shane Stark with garden-crisp produce and the freshest seafood pulled from the Texas Gulf, Mongers’ new seasonal dishes include Burrata with Pickled Figs and locally sourced arugula atop grilled bread; delicate Linguine and Clams with garlic, chili flakes and Parmesan; Chicken-liver Pâté with a house-made gelée of Austin Eastciders’ craft cider, herbs and truffle toast; Crispy Salmon “Wings” served alongside okra and made-from-scratch ranch dressing; and Pan-roasted Scallops with celeriac, red pear and herbed brown butter.
All of Chef Stark’s new dishes are exemplary complements to Mongers’ curated selection of bubblies, wines and draft beers, ideal for enjoying while unwinding on the patio, a welcoming outdoor space bedecked with picnic-style tables and intimate café tables, wide umbrellas and seaside embellishments.
Taco Tuesday
Also new to the Mongers menu is a weekly special sure to become an Austin favorite: Taco Tuesdays, featuring $5 tacos with a choice of Gulf fish, shrimp or oysters, topped with slaw and house-made sauce. But as every Austinite knows, no taco is complete without an ice-cold beer on the side, so on Taco Tuesdays, Mongers is serving up $5 draft beers, including several local offerings. Taco and beer specials are available all day long every Tuesday.
