Before Summer ends, there are a few amazing beach destinations around the United States you may first want to visit. End-of-Summer vacations are always the best because many tourist attractions are already slowing down in terms of traffic. This is the perfect time to go to places that will normally have a ton of people. The following destinations are all worth the visit and will surely be less populated than it has been throughout the season.
The Lodge at Pebble Beach
Pebble Beach in itself is honestly one of the most beautiful places in California. The Lodge at Pebble Beach offers the perfect combination of stately architecture and relaxed elegance. The attentive hospitality you experience is like no other and of course the golf courses are all world class worthy. The cottages are breathtaking, but if those are completely booked, you can always enjoy their suites and luxury guest rooms. Although the location is near many other tourist attractions, you won’t want to leave as everything within the vicinity will keep you busy and entertained.
Fisherman’s Wharf
While in California, you might as well head over to one of the most historic destinations in the state, Fisherman’s Wharf. One of the best things about this place is the fact that you will be able to enjoy the area without necessarily having to spend too much money. There are hotels and hostels all throughout San Francisco located just blocks away from Fisherman’s Wharf. At the Wharf you can go fishing, shopping, and even enjoy one of the oldest arcades in America Musée Mécanique.
Siesta Key
Now heading to the opposite side of the country, Florida is known for being one of the biggest tourist capitals of the US. Aside from the many theme parks to choose from, the state also offers some of the best beaches in the world. One of the nicest beaches in the east coast would have to be Siesta Key. The Keys in itself has a ton of sandbars, quiet areas, and fishing locations that will make the end of your Summer complete. Plus, hotels in the state are fairly cheaper than many other places in the country. Jet skis, boat, and kayak rentals are also not too expensive making it perfect for those on a budget. Certain areas nearby also have campgrounds that you can safely stay at for the night.
Lake Tahoe
For more outdoor adventures and activities, you may want to visit Lake Tahoe. Being one of the largest freshwater lakes in the Nevada Mountains, you are bound to have the time of your life. The ski and beach resorts nearby are also at par with some of the most luxurious lodges in the world with views that are to die for. Right on the southwest shore, you will see the Emerald Bay State park that contains the 1929 Nordic Mansion known as Vikingsholm. You can take a tour of the mansion or simply pass by and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The northeast side on the other hand has the State Park that includes the Spooner Lake and the Sand Harbor Beach. There are also countless hiking trails you can enjoy with no extra fees.
Hunting Island State Park
For a more laid back State Park, Hunting Island in South Carolina may just be for you. This secluded semi tropical island is 5,000 acres and is just 15 miles away from Beaufort. Although classified as a State Park, it certainly feels closer to something you’d find in Hawaii. Admission is just $5 for adults and $3 for children which ensures that it stays a very clean and not so crowded destination.
All of these destinations have something unique to offer. The end of your Summer doesn’t have to be your typical vacation. Choosing a destination that speaks to you is the first step, and simply writing down a checklist of activities that will make it a time to remember.
