October is Texas Wine Month, a time to celebrate the bountiful harvest and the wines produced by past harvests.  The entire month is loaded with events celebrating Texas terroir, wines and grapes.  The best way to celebrate Texas Wine Month is to participate in the Texas Wine Trail, where over 51 of the Texas Hill Country’s best wineries and vineyards participate. One of those wineries is William Chris Vineyards, the Texas beloved winery that prides themselves in producing 100% Real Texas Wine.

William Chris Vineyards is helmed by two of the foremost winegrowers in Texas, William ʻBillʼ Blackmon and Chris Brundrett.  It was founded in 2008 when the two experts who shared the same winemaking philosophy came together to make and bottle their first vintage. William Chris Vineyards produces many varietals of wine, including Mourvèdre (of which WCV is the leading producer in Texas), Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Blanc du Bois, Petit Verdot, Tannat, and Trebbiano, all of which are made using a “low-impact” method to ensure a quality sustainable product. In addition, WCV focuses focus on educating consumers on what type of fruit is in the bottle, why certain grape varietals grow well in Texas (and why some do not), where the grapes are grown, and how they arrive is paramount to their vineyard-to-bottle philosophy. As co-owner and winegrower, Brundrett serves in a position of leadership as a winegrower, grower liaison, innovator, and coach.

The past year has been a big year for the vineyard – from hosting the successful Annual Texas Wine Revolution to Brundrett partnering up with Andrew Sides, co-owner of Lost Draw Cellars to launch their latest Yes We Can Sway Blanc canned white blend wine to Brundrett being featured on Wine Enthusiast as One of the Producers that Are Defining American Wine (read full article here).  William Chris Vineyards has earned its recognition that has led them to features in Food & Wine, The Daily Meal, Texas Monthly, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator, FORBES, GQ Magazine and many others.
