The Texas Monthly BBQ Fest launches it’s 8th year, inviting a brand new “Top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas” list which was released in June. The celebration begins on Saturday, November 4th, with the Brisket Brunch and a new educational event entitled ‘Cue Course. The festival itself will be held on Sunday, November 5th, at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. Barbecue lovers can purchase tickets at TexasMonthly.com/tmbbqfest at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 10th.
The Texas Monthly BBQ Fest, which sells out every year, celebrates the arrival of a new list of “Top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas” (in the June 2017 issue) with a full weekend of events. On Saturday, November 4th, the second annual Brisket Brunch will be held at Juliet Italian Kitchen (1500 Barton Springs Rd) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The special menu will feature a culinary collaboration between Juliet’s executive chef, Jacob Weaver, and pitmaster Leonard Botello IV of TRUTH Barbeque, ranked #10 on the Texas Monthly list from Brenham, Texas. Tickets are $85 per person for a meaty brunch menu with cocktails included.
Takes place after the Brisket Brunch, on Saturday, November 4th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Terry Black’s Barbecue (1003 Barton Springs Rd). Hosted by Texas Monthly’s Barbecue Editor Daniel Vaughn, the event, which features certified educators from Texas A&M University’s Meat Science department and notable pitmasters, will attract hardcore fans with a deep dive into barbecue education, pit tours, and a smoked-meat meal. Tickets are $125 each, with education, food, and beverages included.
Closing out the weekend of festivities, the Texas Monthly BBQ Fest will be held on Sunday, November 5th, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (VIP entry at noon), at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. A grand total of 31 barbecue restaurants from across the state will come together, making this year’s event the largest in the event’s history. The featured BBQ restaurants, all of whom are on the magazine’s new “Top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas” list, will be on hand serving smoked delicacies. Guests are encouraged to eat as much as humanly possibly while enjoying live music, sweet treats, and lawn games.

New Orleans, LA - On October 22, 2024, I recently had an opportunity to attend the grand opening of Caesars New Orleans, marking the completion of a stunning $435 million transformation of the former Harrah’s New Orleans. It was an evening to remember, filled with excitement, luxury, and the vibrant spirit of New Orleans. The festivities began on Canal Street with an exhilarating ceremony led by Caesars Entertainment CEO Tom Reeg, President & COO Anthony Carano, and Caesars New Orleans General Manager Samir Mowad. The atmosphere was electric as they joined Caesar himself and an iconic New Orleans second-line band in a lively procession into the casino. It felt like the entire city had come out to celebrate, with Caesars New Orleans team members and Mayor LaToya Cantrell also joining the event to commemorate this historic occasion. Anthony Carano’s pride in introducing Caesars to New Orleans was palpable. “From local favorite Emeril Lagasse to our long-time partner, Chef Nobu, to the beautiful state-of-the-art Caesars Sportsbook, all-new rooms and gaming floor, and of course, our gorgeous new center bar, Octavia, Caesars New Orleans offers something for everyone. It’s a world-class resort in the heart of the Big Easy, and we can’t wait for our guests to experience it,” he said. The ceremony was a spectacle, kicking off with an iconic Mardi Gras float featuring Caesar and his court, and a dazzling firework show that lit up the New Orleans sky. The second-line band then led us revelers into the resort’s elegant center bar, Octavia, where we indulged in a “Taste of Caesars New Orleans.” Each bite from the six on-property restaurants was a delightful journey, capturing the essence of New Orleans’ rich culinary scene. Throughout the night, elemental entertainers, including the Saints Cheer Krewe, Mardi Gras Indians, Zulu Tramps, and showgirls, created an authentic and unforgettable Big Easy experience. Everywhere I turned, there was something new to marvel at, each performance more mesmerizing than the last.
