With the summer days in full swing, nothing rewards a hard week of work like the perfect Happy Hour.  The 2ND Street District in downtown Austin has become one of the best happy hour destinations featuring several delicious specials at some of our favorite downtown restaurants to serve as a treat to the post-work hours.  A couple of our personal favorites include:

Second Bar + Kitchen

An Austin staple at the corner of 2nd & Congress, Second Bar + Kitchen’s new happy hour menu is a first to the iconic Modern American restaurant. Featuring both food and beverage specials, enjoy bites starting at $4 – like the Smoked + Glazed BBQ Wings ($4). Plus, a fresh cocktail selection for $5-$7, $1 off draft beers and select bottles of wine half off. Available Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the outdoor patio facing Congress, recently renovated space The Second Bar, and bar inside the restaurant.

Taverna

Situated on the corner of 2nd Street and Lavaca Street, Taverna brings Italian flare with a neighborhood feel to the 2ND Street District in downtown Austin. Taverna’s happy hour is everyMonday through Friday from 4-7 p.m., featuring drink specials and discounted appetizers and pizzas. Choose from a lengthy list of Italian wines to pair with their Burrata Pizza made with roasted pomodorini, imported burrata cheese, basil, extra virgin olive oil and fresh sea salt for a truly enjoyable prequel to an evening in downtown Austin.

Bar Chi

Happy Hour with appetizer, sushi and drink specials Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Plus, additional reverse happy hour hours on Thursdays & Fridays from 10 p.m. to midnight, and all-day Sunday.  Photo by Bar Chi Austin.

CRÚ Food & Wine Bar

Dine on small plates specials from $4-$6 and $3 off glasses or flights of wine Monday through Friday from 4p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

La Condesa

Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. relax with specials on bites & half off sips – hello, Watermelon Martini – in the bar area.

Lamberts

Happy Hour on the reg. Lamberts offers half off appetizers and $2 off all drinks every day of the week.

TRACE

Sip on La Vida and take in 2nd Street views from TRACE’s outdoor lounge and patio. The cocktail is made with Dulce Vida lime tequila, ancho reyes chili liqueur, pomegranate, and black lava salt. Enjoy one (or a few) during happy hour from 5-7pm and pair it with $7 Lobster Hush Puppies or $6 Short Rib Parker House Rolls.
