AFM Bites | 5 Ways to Stuff your Face this Weekend

The cold weather is back and all you want to do is stay in doors, abandon your short-lived diet and stuff your face with food (speaking for myself).  College Bowl season is over and the Super Bowl is just around so you’ll undoubtedly be watching the NFL playoffs over the next few weekends.  Even if your team didn’t make it (looking at you Texans and Cowboys), you’ll still want to reasonably stuff your face with some of the best food this side of the Colorado River.

It’s a new year and you don’t need to waste time eating the usual garbage you used to shove in your face while watching the game.  Weather you’re trying to eat light or eat with a total disregard of your waist line, we’ve selected some of our favorite dishes you’ll want to tackle this weekend and throughout the remainder of football season.

Poke Bowls | Pokeatery

If you’re in to fresh ahi and hawaiian style poke bowls, Pokeatery is one of the latest and greatest spots serving up some of the tastiest fare in Austin.  Whether you want a more traditional poke with onion, limu, light sauce and some hawaiian salt, or the works with every choice and a mix of their signature sauces, you’ll walk away full and happy.  1201 Barbara Jordan Blvd #1410

Hog Wings | District Kitchen

A twist on the traditional chicken wings, District’s Hog Wings are made with pork shanks tossed in a Shiner tamarind sauce and served with a side of daikon slaw. An interesting take that will leave party guests reminiscing and perfect for game day!  5900 W Slaughter Ln D. Photo credit: Courtney Pierce
