North Austin just got a wine bar that is also serving up delicious small plates! The folks behind Bartlett’s opened the Rotten Bunch Wine Bar & Kitchen in Avery Ranch last week. The gorgeous wine bar has an exceptional wine list in all price ranges. During happy hour wines start off at $5 a glass. Wines can be purchased in 3 ounce pours, 6 ounce glasses and by the bottle. In addition customers can purchase bottles of wine to go at 30% off. In addition the Rotten Bunch also serve a nice lineup of Texas brews.

I dined in they day after they officially opened and was impressed with the beautiful space, delectable cuisine, impeccable service and wonderful wines.  I started off with a glass of Goudchaud Cabernet Franc rose which paired exquisitely with the appetizing tuna tartare lettuce wraps. The tuna tartare is a splendid mix of avocado, ginger, soy, sesame, corn and serrano.

The restaurant also has a front area where customers can stop in and grab a cheese plate or other bites and bottles of wine to go at retail.

Happy hour which is 4pm-6pm Tuesday-Friday (closed on Mondays). Happy hour includes:

$1 off glasses of wine
$5 wines on tap
30% off bottles of wine
$2 off pints
$2 off dishes from the beginners and veggies menu
