Saturday, January 30th is National Croissant Day. Believe it or not the history of croissants is a colorful tale of action and adventure dating back to 1683 during the Turkish Empire’s siege on Vienna, Austria, up to the legend of Marie Antoninette. This buttery flaky pastry continues to be a year-round favorite that has seen it’s historical culinary evolution all around the world. It’s hard to find anyone that doesn’t love croissants, whether you enjoy it with your morning coffee, as a snack, or you use it to make your day after Thanksgiving sandwich, it’s arguably the most popular pastry of all time.
