Spartan Pizza is announcing today the debut of their first brick and mortar location in East Austin set to open March 2, 2015. Located at The Corazon development at 1007 East Sixth Street. Spartan’s new space will feature a 1,000 square foot space focused on take out and delivery with a few seats for customers who prefer to eat in. Spartan’s location will also feature an expanded menu, including sandwiches, salads, appetizers, beer and wine offerings. The opening of the brick and mortar location also allows for the restaurant to broaden their delivery area to bring handmade pizza to even more people in Austin.

Spartan Pizza currently operates out of a 1955 Spartan Imperial Mansion trailer at the corner of East Sixth and Waller streets in downtown Austin, Texas.  Husband and wife team Jeremy and Nicole Portwood started the business six years ago, and Spartan Pizza has since grown to become a favorite in Austin’s thriving food culture.

“We wanted other people to be able to experience how good food can be when it’s made fresh, with love, and with a bit of imagination. When we started building pizzas at home for our own family, we didn’t know that would be the beginning of the Spartan Pizza adventure. We’ve been so honored to have served the sophisticated tastes of the people of this town, and the opening of our new location will allow us to do that even better than before,” said owner Nicole Portwood.

Spartan Pizza’s focus on creating fresh, flavorful pizzas will continue with the addition of new menu items like the Pandora pizza made with roasted garlic oil, caramelized onion, sausage, parmesan cheese, and fresh basil. Spartan’s dough is made fresh each day and requires an overnight refrigerated rise to fully develop its signature flavor and texture. The unique dough-making process and cooking method make for a product that showcases exciting ingredient combinations that have made them a perennial favorite among pizza eaters in Austin.

All items on the Spartan Pizza menu are named for Greek mythology figures, a nod to the original vintage Spartan trailer. Spartan Pizza is located at 1007 East Sixth Street and will operate seven days a week for lunch and dinner service.
