Picnik, the paleo-friendly new restaurant (and food trailer), opened this week at 4801 Burnet Road in Austin. Picnik exists to accommodate all dietary restrictions based on the philosophy that delicious food can also be good for the body and mind. The menu includes butter coffee, bone broth, gluten-free pastries, and grab-and-go, farm-to-table menus.  Founder Naomi Seifter is all about making food that is good for you also taste good with a menu that’s always gluten-free, corn-free, peanut-free and soy-free.

The team at Picnik believes in eliminating the foods that do not serve customers’ health, integrating foods that positively impact customers health, and educating customers as to why Picnik uses these ingredients so they can integrate these food philosophies into their own lives.
Founded by Naomi Seifter in 2013, Picnik began as a food trailer housed in a re-purposed shipping container at 1700 South Lamar Blvd. Seifter’s personal history of combatting food allergies since childhood led to her journey to open the gluten-free food trailer known for serving grab-and-go breakfast and lunch items all with a focus on sourcing locally and using organic ingredients. They will serve wine and gluten-free beer and a full menu of alcohol offerings will be available following the opening date.

The new restaurant seats 74 and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner Sunday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday andSaturday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The location includes a bright, open coffee lounge, a welcoming interior dining room, and an outdoor patio designed by Austin-based design firm McCray & Co.

Seifter and her team were early adopters of bringing a Paleo-friendly concept to Austin, and the trailer quickly gained a devoted following, mainly for the creative grass-fed butter coffee offerings. The original location will continue to operate at 1700 South Lamar Blvd., in addition to the 4801 Burnet Road location.

The restaurant is open seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 4801 Burnet Road. The Picnik trailer is open seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information on Picnik, please visit picnikaustin.com or follow @PicnikAustin on Facebook and Instagram.
