2ND Street District announced today that Peli Peli, a Houston-based restaurant concept focused on South African flavors will open in the District in 2017 bringing its delectable fare to Downtown Austin for brunch, lunch and dinner with a diverse steak, chicken and seafood menu focused on combining American dishes with a South African twist. Dishes include Espetada, the Wine & Food Week Award winning Bobotie, South African Kingklip and Scallops and much more.

The restaurant is led by Executive Chef Paul Friedman, who brings over 40 years of restaurant operations experience in South Africa and the U.S. and has also been featured on Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen and CNBC’s Restaurant Startup. Additionally, the concept is operated by University of Texas at Austin graduate CEO/Partner Michael Tran and UT Austin and Texas Law graduate CMO/Partner Thomas Nguyen.

Peli Peli will strive to create a never-before-seen interior as evidenced by prior interior designs featuring a 30-foot Acacia tree at their Vintage Park location and a complete LED ceiling as seen at the Galleria location.

The restaurant will be located at 201 W 3rd St, Austin, TX 78701. For more information on 2ND Street District, please visit www.2ndstreetdistrict.com. For more information on Peli Peli, please visit www.pelipeli.com.
