The Kentucky Derby is one of the most exciting horse races in the world. It is also a perfect excuse to drink Bourbon while attending with derby parties with your finest spring wardrobe and fancy hats for the ladies.
To celebrate Derby Day, we’d like to share four great cocktails featuring Four Roses Bourbon. First, try a take on the Mint Julep with the Sparkling Rose Julep by mixologist Tommy Flynn. For those who are not julep fans, we’re sharing a recipe for the Four Roses Summer Citrus.

2-3 oz Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon
2 tsp sugar
12 mint leaves
Club soda
Garnish: mint springs and orange slice
Directions: In a julep cup, stir together club soda and sugar until sugar just begins to dissolve. Add mint leaves and, using glass muddler or back of large spoon, gently press leaves into sugar syrup until slightly darkened but not completely crushed. Add bourbon, then fill cup with crushed ice and, using long spoon, stir briefly. Tuck mint sprigs into top of cup and garnish with orange slice and insert straw.
1 ½ ounces Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon
½ ounce Plantation dark rum
½ ounce Jacoulout Crème de Peche de Vigne
½ ounce mint-infused simple syrup
2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 dashes Regans orange bitters
4 drops rose water
Cava top
Mint springs and rose petals for garnish (optional)
Directions: Combine all ingredients except Cava in a Julep cup with crushed ice. Stir with a swizzle. Top with Cava and add garnishes, if using.
1 ¼ oz Four Roses Bourbon
½ oz Lemon Juice
½ oz Grapefruit Juice
¾ oz Clover Honey Simple Syrup
1 dash Angostura Bitters
Lemon twist
Directions: Combine all ingredients in shaker tin. Shake then strain into a glass with fresh ice. Garnish with lemon twist.
1.5 oz Clyde May’s Straight Bourbon Whiskey
1.5 oz Ginger Beer
1.5 oz Blue Moon Beer
.5 oz finest call fresh citrus sour
Lemon and orange wedge
Directions: Shake over ice and top off with beers. Pour into pilsner glass. Garnish with a lemon and orange wedge

The second-line band then led us revelers into the resort’s elegant center bar, Octavia, where we indulged in a “Taste of Caesars New Orleans.” Each bite from the six on-property restaurants was a delightful journey, capturing the essence of New Orleans’ rich culinary scene. Throughout the night, elemental entertainers, including the Saints Cheer Krewe, Mardi Gras Indians, Zulu Tramps, and showgirls, created an authentic and unforgettable Big Easy experience. Everywhere I turned, there was something new to marvel at, each performance more mesmerizing than the last.
