Today, FOOD & WINE Magazine revealed its fourth annual list of the 2018 Restaurants of the Year and has listed Kemuri Tatsu-ya as one of the top 10 restaurants in the country to open in the last 14 months!
Each restaurant listed in the issue were chosen not only for their delicious food, but also for their success in transcending the dinner plate and how they reflect the communities of which they are a part. FOOD & WINE Magazine editors see these restaurants – which are diverse in location, cuisine, and staff – as leading the change in how we think about the restaurant industry.
Chef Tatsu Aikawa and co-chef Takuya Matsumoto both come from Japanese immigrant families, but grew up in Texas. Both chefs wanted to tell that story through food and Kemuri Tatsu-ya’s menu has a common thread of “smoke” and results in two cultures that suddenly feel like an obvious match.
The complete Restaurants of the Year 2018 report, with insights on why all 10 restaurants made the list, is featured now at www.foodandwine.com/restaurants-of-the-year and will also be in the May issue of FOOD & WINE, on newsstands April 13.
Join us in congratulating Chef Tatsu Aikawa and chef Takuya Matsumoto on their notable achievements.
