If you missed Chef Amir Hajimaleki’s Umami Burger at Austin Food + Wine Festival, there’s great news for you! His famous Umami Burger will be featured on the menu at both Oasthouse Kitchen + Bar and District Kitchen + Cocktails starting Monday, May 29 through Monday, July 31 as a part of The James Beard Foundation’s (JBF) Blended Burger Project™.
The Blended Burger Project is a nationwide contest and challenge to make a “blended burger” by blending ground meat with finely chopped mushrooms to create a delicious, healthier and more sustainable burger. In Chef Hajimaleki’s Umami Burger, he blends oyster mushrooms with high-quality Texas Wagyu beef for the patty. Once cooked, the patty is placed on aHawaiian bistro bun and topped with the chef’s special Japanese Island Sauce and pickled bok choy, sliced cucumber andDelice de Bourgogne cheese from Antonelli’s Cheese Shop.
