Two Cocktails to Celebrate Scottish Spirit & Tartan Week

In 1998, the US Congress designated April 6 as national “Tartan Day,” to celebrate the contributions to America by Scottish-Americans.  The date is the anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath (1320), one of the first documents in the world to declare a right to freedom. The Scottish Coalition, USA led the initative for a national day of recognition and celebration resulting in Congressional, Senate and Presidential recognition of National Tartan Day each year on April 6. There’s also a Scotland Run and Tartan Parade to commemorate this week.

Celebrate the Scottish spirit and Tartan Week (April 4th – 10th) by raising a glass of the timeless liqueur, Drambuie. Known in its native Scottish Gaelic, as “the drink that satisfies,” Drambuie is a unique blend of aged Scotch whisky with a secret combination of spices, heather honey & herbs. The exact recipe will remain a closely guarded secret as it has since 1745.

Celebrate golf, tweed, herring, bagpipes and try the Scotch liqueur with these two refreshing and classic cocktails to salute the Scottish heritage. Post your #ScotWeekSelfie on Twitter or Instagram with your cocktail and use #ScotWeek.
