Handle your New Year’s Eve hangover and soak up the alcohol with the perfect brunch.  Whether you’re looking for traditional black eyed peas, stacks of pancakes or your fill of mimosas to keep festivities rolling, we’ve listed our picks for the best places to brunch on New Year’s Day in Austin!

Downtown

 

New Year’s Day Hangover Brunch at La Condesa

Nothing soaks up alcohol quite like masa.  La Condesa will help you with your hangover cure, serving up Pancakes Azules: blue corn pancakes with citrus marmalade, piloncillo syrup and honey butter.   Check out the full menu ahead of time — it’ll make it way easier to order through the massive headache and humbling realization that you aren’t 23 anymore.

 

Forthright Cafe’s NYD Brunch

Visit Forthright for a straightforward brunch and with some of their delicious classics like Avocado Toast with poached eggs or Chicken and Waffles. Or, get adventurous with new items like Toasted Coconut French Toast or the revamped Wild Mushroom Toast and Brunch Burger. Mimosas will be $2 all day.  Brunch kicks off at 9am – 3pm.

 

TLC’s Bathrobe and Bingo Brunch

Roll out of bed and brunch with TLC on New Year’s Day! Wear your favorite bathrobe or pajamas and join them for Bingo benefiting Cupid’s Charity for the Children’s Tumor Foundation.  There will be tons of great prizes along with a full brunch menu and a New Year’s Day Southern Plate which includes Texas caviar (black eyed peas), jalapeno cheese cornbread, greens and fried pork chops.  Pair the big meal with a Texas sized mimosa!

 

East Austin Hotel New Year’s Day Brunch at Sixth & Waller

Sixth & Waller will be offering a New Year’s Day Hangover Brunch featuring a black-eyed pea special for good luck and Shrimp and Grits!

Easy Tiger’s Dog Friendly Brunch benefitting Emancipet

Start the New Year off right with a dog-friendly brunch at The LINC.  Bring your pups to the Beer Garden and help us celebrate our partnership with Emancipet, an organization working to provide low-cost spay/neuter and vet services in Central Texas.   With Tito’s Handmade Vodka, we are proud to donate more than $1,500 to Emancipet in 2019 through our ‘Salty Dog’ cocktail special! COVER 3 will be ringing in 2020 with a not-to-miss New Year’s Day brunch- featuring food and beverage options sure to kick off the new year on a delicious, and lucky, note!  They’ll be offering their special “Southern Charm” lucky plate featuring old-fashioned Southern good luck charms like picked-and-pressed pork “short rib” for prosperity, black eyed peas with andouille sausage for luck and braised kale greens for wealth for $15.95.

 

Snooze an A.M. Eatery

The special holiday menu at Snooze an A.M. Eatery will be available through New Year’s Day and has some very festive and decadent holiday dishes and drinks.  Order Nana’s Hot Cocoa Pancake, featuring a warm fluffy buttermilk pancake loaded with white chocolate chips, and sitting on top is what else but a GIGANTIC marshmallow and candied pecans. Served alongside is a warm pot of Mexican hot chocolate for guests to drizzle all over.  Other special items include the Celebration Cider, Spiked Candy Cane Cocoa and the Home For The Hollandaise Benny, made with seared, cider-braised, habanero pork belly on top of a lightly buttered griddle English muffin with bacon-espresso jam and more.

William Chris Vineyards Black Eyed Pea Cook-Off

William Chris Vineyards will be hosting their Annual New Year’s Day Party featuring a distinctly southern family-friendly Black Eyed Pea Cook-Off at the vineyard in Hye, Texas on Wednesday, January 1st from 1 to 4 p.m.  The ticket price for general admission is $25 and will include a new year’s toast for adults, plenty of black eyed peas, one vote to cast for your favorite dish and live music provided by Trace of Gold.
