Friday Night Lights Frito Pie

Paired with Hops and Grain’s River Beer Lager

We dare you to find anyone from Texas that says they don’t like a Frito Pie!  Hops and Grain’s River Beer is light in body with just enough malt character to add some depth to the Frito pie flavors but also help to sharpen the spice from the chili powder and green chilies.

Carne Asada

Paired with Barbaresco

This pairing complements the savory herbs in the dish, according to Ken Freeman, sommelier and beverage director at Sixty Vines in Dallas.

Lone Star Chili

Paired with a Saint Arnold Santo.

Chili is a game day favorite – add some Texas beer to the recipe and you’ve got a winner. The smokiness of the chili will pair perfectly with the roasty malt profile in the dark yet refreshing Santo.

Tequila & Lime Marinated Flank Steak

Paired with a Margarita or Spanish Mencia

Lindsey Drew at the Austin Wine Merchant recommends this deep red wine to complement the herbs and spices.

Lazy Beef Lasagna

Paired with Sage on Saison from Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery

This pairing features a full-bodied beer with umami sage flavor on the back end, making it a good match to this savory lasagna that can be made a day ahead to serve a big gameday group.

Beer-Braised Shredded Beef Sandwiches

Paired with an Oak Highlands Oktoberfest Marzen Lager, a malt forward traditional Oktoberfest beer with a crisp clean finish.

The initial malt sweetness accentuates the flavor of the shredded beef sandwiches made with a lean chuck roast and glazed with molasses, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce.

Korean Beef Ssam Lettuce Wraps

Paired with an off-dry to sweet Riesling.

Sommelier Lindsey Thomas, sommelier at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse in Houston, says plays so incredibly well with the complexity of the sweet, spicy, savory flavors found in this dish.
