Bacon is a versatile food that can be used for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You can add bacon to many of dishes to add that extra bit of flavor or even plan whole meals around it. Here we will share just a couple of amazing tastes that you can recreate in your own kitchen.
We all love a good BLT every now and then, but what about having your BLT on a dish? BLT salads are a great way to use up bacon if you don’t feel like having it with eggs or making a sandwich.
Ingredients:
4 bacon slices diced
4 cups of romaine lettuce
1 avocado peeled and sliced
1 cup cherry tomatoes
¼ cup crumbled goat cheese or feta cheese
1 cup olives
Lime vinaigrette sauce
¼ cup olive oil
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
Lime zest
2 tablespoons lime juice
2 teaspoons sugar
Directions:
Step 1
Rinse your lettuce and tomatoes. Make sure your water is filtered to limit the number of harmful contaminants that are present in most water systems.
Step 2
Cook bacon on the skillet on both sides for about six to eight minutes until the bacon is fully cooked.
Step 3
Combine lettuce, avocado, olives, tomatoes, and cheese, and bacon into a large salad bowl.
Step 4
Stir in the lime vinaigrette sauce. You can either serve it immediately or leave it in your refrigerator for a couple of minutes to let the bacon get cold, and then serve.

Bacon is a great source of filling your stomach and satisfying your cravings, but it’s also important to be cognizant of the fact that certain bacteria live on our meat products. Meats should be cooked at the appropriate high levels to kill off any bacteria that may be present. Eating undercooked foods can be extremely harmful to your health and besides cooking foods to the correct temperature, there are other ways that you can continue to enjoy the foods you love and stay safe in the process.
Our water systems generally contain trace amounts of pharmaceuticals, fluoride, heavy metals, and bacteria such as E. coli. So, while you may have been taking the correct steps in cooking your food properly and rinsing off your veggies, the unfiltered water system can be the source of the problem. By investing in a strong water filtration system like the Big Berkey Water Filters, you can reduce the levels of these contaminants.
Bacon is better kept in an airtight sealed bag after opening. It is generally good for about two weeks from the time it has first been opened, but if you notice a funny smell or the appearance looks off, it’s best to toss it and not take any chances.
We all love to eat our favorite types of meats and bacon is generally high up on that list. The only thing to keep in mind is that eating uncooked bacon is really not a wise choice, and if you’re preparing a salad, you may have taken the proper steps to reduce food illness by rinsing and cooking meat to its proper temperature, but not realizing that your water source can be the point of contamination is a mistake many people sadly make.
By investing in a Berkey water filter system, which removes 99.9% of pathogens, heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, and viruses, you can rest assured knowing you did everything you could to reduce the chances of suffering from a foodborne illness.

New Orleans, LA - On October 22, 2024, I recently had an opportunity to attend the grand opening of Caesars New Orleans, marking the completion of a stunning $435 million transformation of the former Harrah’s New Orleans. It was an evening to remember, filled with excitement, luxury, and the vibrant spirit of New Orleans. The festivities began on Canal Street with an exhilarating ceremony led by Caesars Entertainment CEO Tom Reeg, President & COO Anthony Carano, and Caesars New Orleans General Manager Samir Mowad. The atmosphere was electric as they joined Caesar himself and an iconic New Orleans second-line band in a lively procession into the casino. It felt like the entire city had come out to celebrate, with Caesars New Orleans team members and Mayor LaToya Cantrell also joining the event to commemorate this historic occasion. Anthony Carano’s pride in introducing Caesars to New Orleans was palpable. “From local favorite Emeril Lagasse to our long-time partner, Chef Nobu, to the beautiful state-of-the-art Caesars Sportsbook, all-new rooms and gaming floor, and of course, our gorgeous new center bar, Octavia, Caesars New Orleans offers something for everyone. It’s a world-class resort in the heart of the Big Easy, and we can’t wait for our guests to experience it,” he said. The ceremony was a spectacle, kicking off with an iconic Mardi Gras float featuring Caesar and his court, and a dazzling firework show that lit up the New Orleans sky. The second-line band then led us revelers into the resort’s elegant center bar, Octavia, where we indulged in a “Taste of Caesars New Orleans.” Each bite from the six on-property restaurants was a delightful journey, capturing the essence of New Orleans’ rich culinary scene. Throughout the night, elemental entertainers, including the Saints Cheer Krewe, Mardi Gras Indians, Zulu Tramps, and showgirls, created an authentic and unforgettable Big Easy experience. Everywhere I turned, there was something new to marvel at, each performance more mesmerizing than the last. Samir Mowad, SVP and GM of Caesars New Orleans, highlighted the significance of the transformation, stating, “This year marks 25 years since we opened in New Orleans, and the completion of this project is the perfect way to usher in a new era with Caesars. Synonymous with the Caesars name, our new resort is pure elegance, and we’re excited to introduce a luxury brand like this to New Orleans. We are extremely grateful for the support of the community, our team members, and our guests as we come to the finish line of this tremendous transformation.” The hotel itself is impressive,…
