10 Best Ways to Celebrate the 4th of July in Austin

Due to the rise in COVID-19 infections in Texas, this year’s 4th of July festivities will be without a big fireworks celebration downtown.  Even though we can’t celebrate Independence Day in public with all of our friends and fellow Austinites, many local restaurants are promoting social distancing with a few delicious family packs you may enjoy at home.

 

If you’re lucky enough to have a backyard or access to a pool, order one of these special 4th of July meals to add to your home festivities.

 

 

Kalimotxo

The Kalimotxo special will include a Wagyu Burger, Papas Pravas and a frozen Kalimotxo cocktail. The basket will be $20 and is available to pick up at Kalimotxo. To order online, please visit the link here.

 

 

 

Emmer & Rye

Max’s Wine Dive

MAX’s Wine Dive is the destination to celebrate National Fried Chicken Day.  In honor of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday and National Fried Chicken Day, MAX’s will be offering specials on buckets of fried chicken and bottles of champagne from Saturday, July 4 to Monday, July 6. Whether you are celebrating at home with picnic-style takeout or dining in, there is no better time or excuse for comfort food than right now.   Order an eight-piece jalapeno-buttermilk marinated fried chicken + two sides ($45); Eight-piece jalapeno-buttermilk marinated fried chicken + two sides + Moet & Chandon Champagne ($90) or Dom Perignon upgrade ($199).

 

 

 

Scholz Garten

This Saturday, Scholz is hosting a 4th of July Backyard BBQ celebration in the Biergarten complete with hot dogs, burgers, mini corn dogs, and rib sliders.  The celebration will also offer free popsicles for kids and $3 Tallboys of Lone Star.  Social distancing regulations will still apply with guests limited to table seating only, no more than 10 guests in a group. Old Thousand

Old Thousand is offering Chinese Sausage Corndogs, smoked meats, and Chinese-inspired bbq sides. A la carte items available, or as a preordered package for $75. Add a mimosa kit, bottle of sparkling rosé, or two frozen cocktails for $15.

 

 

 

Rosewood

Rosewood is offering a 4th of July special, including fried chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, biscuits, blondies for $50.  Guests may pre-order  at info@rosewoodstx.com.  The restaurant and lawn will be open.

TLC is offering the best pulled pork you’ve ever had in 4th of July southern comfort family meal that serves 4, which will be available for Curbside Pickup 7/3 – 7/4.
