Hot Luck Festival, the new live music and food festival, kicked off it’s very first event of it’s three-day festival, yesterday at Franklin Barbecue. The festival is the brainchild of James Beard Award-winner Aaron Franklin, Guerilla Suit principal and Mohawk owner James Moody, and Mike Thelin, cofounder of Feast Portland.
The first event of Hot Luck featured various talented chefs from around the country; including Roy Choi of Cogi in Los Angeles along with a visit from actor and director Jon Favreau. Other guests chefs included Peter Cho, of Han Oak in Portland; Ivan Orkin, of Ivan Ramen in New York City; Daniel Vaughn of Texas Monthly Magazine and Full Custom Gospel BBQ in Dallas; and of course, the one and only Aaron Franklin of Franklin Barbecue.
Additional snacks and refreshments were provided by Tillamook Ice Cream, Austin Eastciders, Sumptown Iced Brewed Coffee and Lonestar Beer.
