VOX Table’s Unexpected and Classic Specialties, & Tableside Cocktail Display
VOX Table, South Austin’s New American-style restaurant where chef-crafted small plates are served alongside an innovative cocktail menu, is in good spirits, now offering an elevated beverage menu that confirms VOX Table is Austin’s home to the quintessential Cocktail Experience. Led by Beverage Director JR Mocanu, VOX Table’s beverage menu now includes even more unusual and unexpected classic and specialty cocktails, as well as an alluring tableside cocktail presentation.
Amplifying VOX Table’s already impressive artisan beverage menu, Mocanu’s new cocktail creations highlight unique flavor combinations and add a touch of whimsy while remaining true to the craft-cocktail experience. Unusual and unique new cocktail offerings include Conor at Maggie’s ($11), a feisty fusion concoction of Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey, Oothu White Tea Pilsner, honey, lemon, Bittermens Hopped Grapefruit Cocktail Bitters and beer foam; the Carlos Almaraz ($12), a fiery combination of Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal, lime juice, charred carrot, pasilla chili pepper, Green Chartreuse French liqueur and a blend of spicy bitters; and #Delicious ($12), a delightful blend of Hendrick’s Gin, hibiscus chenin blanc syrup, lemon, grapefruit, Aperol Italian aperitif, Bittercube Bolivar Cocktail Bitters and flowers.
Unexpected classics now adorning the VOX Table beverage menu include Cocktail à la Louisianne ($14), a draft cocktail of Wild Turkey 101 Rye Bourbon, Bénédictine herbal liqueur, Carpano Antica Italian vermouth, Angostura and Peychaud’s bitters, and a touch of absinthe; and the incomparable Mexican Firing Squad ($10), a sublimely elevated version of Austin’s beloved margarita, with Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila, lime, grenadine and angostura bitters.
Also new to the VOX Table Cocktail Experience is the tableside presentation of Tom Selleck’s Mustache ($12), an inventive pick-me-up concoction that’s as visually dramatic as it is delectable, with Knob Creek Rye Whiskey, Casa Brasil Coffee- infused Cocchi Vermouth di Torino, Bar Keep Chinese Five Spice Bitters and smoke.
With a nod to other accomplished bartenders throughout the country, Mocanu, an award-winning and gifted mixologist in his own right, will also feature a Friends + Family list highlighting cocktail specialties from guests bartenders, and will continue to showcase house-made ingredients with VOX Table’s seasonal cocktail offerings.
Mocanu and his bar staff collaborate closely with Executive Chef Joe Anguiano to ensure each cocktail and beverage offering pairs exquisitely with the chef’s seasonal cuisine. Emphasizing sustainability and freshness, Chef Anguiano brings the same consideration and whimsy to the Bar Bites menu that VOX Table diners have come to expect from his dinner offerings. Bar Bites specialties include Albacore Tuna Tartar, House-made Beef Jerky andCreamy & Crispy Chickpea Fritters.
VOX Table is now offering half-priced bottles of wine from its extensive selection every Monday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. during Happy Hour, which has been extended from just the bar area to the entire dining room, offering the perfect opportunity for diners to pair Chef Anguiano’s small plates with any number of Mocanu’s beverage creations for the complete VOX Table Cocktail Experience.
