Redfin Seafood Kitchen
Reader Rating: (10 Votes)

We don’t have nearly enough great seafood restaurants in Austin.  It’s not hard to believe, especially since we’re not anywhere near the coastal waters making it a little difficult and slightly expensive to get fresh seafood delivered consistently.  However, Michael McCollum and Bill Rasch recently opened RedFin Seafood Kitchen in north Austin and, they’re succeeding in bringing in some of the freshest, best tasting seafood in town.

Redfin avoids the stalls of an old stale fried seafood joint.  Instead they boasts daily fresh seafood and innovative dishes prepared by Executive Chef Mario Rodriguez in a casual dinning environment. Chef Rodriguez, has over 20 years experience in the kitchen including a long stint with the W Hotel in Austin. Together with owners McCollum and Rasch, he’s created a fun and tasteful menu with fresh Gulf Coast fare. Some of his best dishes include blacked redfish, wood-fire grilled salmon and Pepita Crusted Mahi-Mahi served with roasted poblano-tomatillo salsa and Mexican street corn.

RedFin boasts an upscale casual dinning environment in a family friendly atmosphere, which is a perfect fit for the mostly upscale neighborhoods and communities along RR 620.  The interior features a beautiful custom made bar top and walls cut from 150-year-old long-leaf red pine from La Grange, Texas.  The outdoor dining area provides a comfortable, lively atmosphere, with a dog friendly patio and a beautiful covered plays cape with nearby picnic tables adding to the overall romantic appeal of the restaurant, making it the perfect spot for a casual date or a fun family night.
