Olamaie is excited to announce the launch of its “Southern Exposure Dinner Series,” a monthly dinner series created by Chefs Michael Fojtasek and Amanda Turner. Kicking off on Tuesday, January 31, the Southern Exposure series will explore Chef Fojtasek and Chef Turner’s love of Southern cooking while highlighting local Texas produce. The series will take place on the last Tuesday of every month. Olamaie will develop a menu exclusive to the night, entirely different from its regular menu and the dinner from the previous month.
The first three dinners in the series will have Executive Chef Michael Fojtasek working hand-in-hand with Chef de Cuisine Amanda Turner in the Olamaie kitchen. Guests will enjoy old Southern classics that launched the restaurant along with new dishes as two of Austin’s best chefs create exclusive menu items for these special dinners.
Though the dinners will be a joint effort between the two chefs, Chef Turner will take the reins from Chef Fojtasek, showcasing the skills she learned from cooking in Japan and at some of Austin’s best restaurants, like Juniper, Odd Duck, Uchi and Uchiko. Chef Turner has been at the helm of the Olamaie kitchen since late 2021 and has since made a name for herself in the Austin culinary community, including being named as CultureMap’s Rising Star Chef of the Year in 2022 and a 2022 James Beard Award semifinalist in the Emerging Chef category. This new series will give diners the chance to experience both chefs in the kitchen together, creating a collaborative savory experience unlike any other.
For $100 per person, the reservation includes a three-course meal and seasonal welcome cocktail, with wine pairings available at an additional cost. Reservations can now be made for the dinners with Chefs Fojtasek and Turner taking place on January 31, February 28 and March 28. Future dinners in the series will feature a rotating guest chef, creating the three-course menu in collaboration with Chef Turner. Proceeds from the series will benefit the Jeremiah Program, an organization that aims to disrupt the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children.
