Seventeen years is a long run for any downtown restaurant, especially one that has survived intoxicated college kids, touring bands, rising rents, and the kind of 2 a.m. decisions that usually end in regret. Since 2008, Hoboken Pie has served up Jersey-style pizza by the slice big, foldable, and unapologetically greasy in the best way. The crust is that rare breed that manages to be crisp and chewy at the same time, like it’s been training for years to win over both East Coast transplants and born-and-raised Austinites.
When the pandemic hit in March 2020, the dining room went dark. Hoboken Pie kept the ovens hot with takeout and delivery, but that community heartbeat the chaotic little dining room full of people scarfing slices before running to Stubb’s or stumbling in from Mohawk was missing.
Now it’s back, with fresh paint, new lighting, and a layout that works whether you’re running in for one slice or settling in for a couple of beers and the UT game. It’s still Hoboken Pie, just cleaned up a little. Like your buddy who finally bought a couch that isn’t from the curb.

The Party
The reopening celebration is set for Friday, September 12, and Saturday, September 13, and Hoboken Pie is keeping it classic: $3 Lone Star, $3 pizza slices, daily $50 gift card giveaways, and prizes like Austin FC tickets and passes to Stubb’s and Mohawk. There’ll be exclusive merch and surprises, which in Austin could mean anything from koozies to a guy in a cowboy hat playing Springsteen covers.
Family Business Beer Company will also be there on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., slinging samples and giveaways. That’s right, the brewery co-owned by a Supernatural star is teaming up with Jersey pizza in the middle of Red River. Austin really does live in its own multiverse..
The reopening means more than just indoor seating. It means Austin gets back a piece of its downtown personality, one with a Jersey accent, a cold beer in hand, and a paper plate balanced on its lap.
So whether you’re craving a post-show slice, a place to watch UT play, or just that feeling of being in the middle of Austin with people who are there for the exact same reason, Hoboken Pie has your table ready again.
