In honor of National Chocolate Cake Day, I have decided to make something just as equally delicious minus half the calories and work. My raw, chocolate brownies require no baking and will satisfy your chocolate heart like no other. You will be surprised to see what little ingredients can make up such a flavorful bite of heaven.

Usually, there is always a way to recreate something that is sinfully delicious into something healthy and delicious. By making small substitutions and changes, you can create a guilt-free recipe that you love just as much as the full-fat version.  What is so great about this recipe is that even though the loads of sugar, flour and oil is omitted, the brownies are still chocolatey, gooey, and mouth watering. The cinnamon gives these brownies a certain warmth that you can’t get from the boxed version.


2 cups medjool dates, pitted
1 cup pecans
2 Tbsp cacao powder
2 Tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp ground cinnamon


A food processor is the best way to combine all of the ingredients. First, process the pecans until they become a fine, ground-like consistency. Then, add the medjool dates to the food processor and blend with the pecans. The mixture will turn into a sticky paste. Next, add the cacao powder, maple syrup, and ground cinnamon. Process until the mixture forms into a tight, sticky ball.

Using your hands, press the brownie mixture into a glass dish and freeze until set, about 1 hour. Remove from the freezer and store in the refrigerator. Munch on them whenever your heart desires!

Whoever thought brownies could be so healthy?!
