Peru’s first SXSW presence with CASA PERU was one of the most popular destinations in the heart of Rainey Street. CASA PERU opened its doors on Friday, March 9 and welcomed thousands of SXSW visitors during its six-day presence.

CASA PERU displayed Peru’s status as the Latin American leader in innovation, technology, entrepreneurship and gastronomy, as well as a modern country with a diverse culture. Peru also had presence at the SXSW Trade Show where guests learned about the country’s technology and innovation sectors from Peruvian entrepreneurs.

Peru Brand Deputy Director Mariella Soldi stated, “Peru’s first SXSW was a huge success. We welcomed thousands of visitors from across the country and internationally who learned about Peru’s culture and creativity through workshops, interactive activities, music, gastronomy and more.” Soldi continued, “Peru start-up companies accessed a large network of business leaders and investors, to further reach goals of building stronger ties with the United States.”

CASA PERU guests enjoyed interactive experiences such as VR, which featured Peru’s most beautiful locations, and Peruvian delicacies cooked on-site by well-known Peruvian chefs. There were also cooking classes with classic Peruvian superfoods, screen-printing and laser-cut looms lessons to create accessories. Nighttime activities included Peruvian DJs for guests to dance into the night with specialty cocktails for a taste of Peruvian nightlife, with projections around the house of famous Peru mountains and the Amazon among other amazing tourist spots in the country.

Emerging music bands from Peru took part in the official Music Showcase at SXSW playing incredible tracks mixing folk, techno and punk rhythms.  More information can be found at the CASA PERU website.
