Wheatsville Food Co-op is excited to announce the launch of Co+op Explorers, a free fruit program for children ages 12 and under. Present in select co-ops nationwide, the Explorer Program encourages sustainable healthy eating for children and an engaging, fun shopping experience for all by supplying kids with a free organic banana or apple to enjoy during their visit.

How does it work? Simply stop by the Hospitality Desk with your kiddo before your shopping adventure begins to receive a free piece of fruit and an official Explorer sticker. Wheatsville encourages parents and kids to dispose of their fruit peels and cores in one of the store’s various compost bins before leaving to help keep Mother Nature healthy and strong.

Additionally, for the month of September, Wheatsville will give 1% of all Wednesday store sales and donations made at the register to Austin Children’s Services. The organization provides a safe, temporary housing for children of abuse and neglect.
