Across the country, Valentine’s Day evokes images of chocolates, flowers, and candle-lit dinners. What’s less romantic is endlessly waiting for your table to be ready, especially if you forgot to plan ahead. Now, procrastinators can rejoice!
In celebration of February 14th – the busiest day of the year for restaurants – NoWait, the free waitlisting app for casual-dining restaurants that don’t take reservations, is offering a solution to last-minute romantics, which describes 87% of the restaurant-goers polled in a recent Valentine’s Day survey. Now, guests can search local dining spots by wait time, add their name remotely to a restaurant’s real-time list, and track their place in line – enabling them to simply show up precisely when they’re table is ready. Available in thousands of restaurants nationwide, including Austin’s casual-dining favorites such as Freedmen’s, The Park, South Congress Café, and Third Base, the app is available for both iPhone and Android.
“Although Valentine’s Day is the Super Bowl of dining-out days, our recent survey reveals that couples still fumble it by not planning ahead, nor are they willing to wait in long lines for a table,” says Ware Sykes, CEO, NoWait. “In an on-demand economy, NoWait is the procrastinators’ hero, enabling them to be seated immediately at their favorite restaurant without skipping a beat, even on February 14th.”
Ironically, despite being poor planners, more than half (59%) will wait at a restaurant for only “up to 30 minutes” before walking out, the less tolerant reported only “up to 15 minutes” (19%), 21 percent would wait “up to an hour,” and a few saints (1%) would stick around “as long as it takes.”
When asked about their biggest pet peeve on Valentine’s Day, 73 percent of respondents complained about “long lines or crowds.” Other irks, in descending order of annoyance, were “mandatory prix-fixe menus,” “noisy neighbors,” “over-the-top décor,” and “pretentious servers.”
Regularly seating more than 10 million diners every month, NoWait has seated more than 100 million diners to date. You can be next. For more information, visit nowait.com, follow @NoWaitApp and like it on Facebook at facebook.com/nowaitapp
