The couple behind The Brixton and Drinks Lounge, Tim and Sara Lupa, have teamed up with industry vet Kelon Bryant and are opening Velouria: a classic cocktail and coffee bar on South Congress Ave., serving up coffee and snacks in the morning and cocktails and bites in the evening hours. Velouria is currently open at The Davis SoCo at 3801 S Congress Ave Suite 116, Austin, TX 78704.

Tim and Sara created Velouria to serve as a cozy, modern atmosphere with ample seating, a spacious bar and moody lighting. Behind the bar will be general manager Kelon Bryant who has served the Austin nightlife scene for over two decades at local establishments such as Justine’s, Continental Club, Eberly, and most recently, Loro.

Sara has a fiftenn year history of experience in the bar industry coupled with Tim’s business experience.

“We’ve spent the last nine years serving friends and folks around the east side,” says owner Tim Lupa. “We’re excited to venture south to continue serving the community with straightforward, classic drinks in a space that we hope can feel like another ‘home base’ bar for the neighborhood. We really tried to capture that feeling in creating Velouria – no frills, just good people and good drinks in a cozy spot.”

The daytime menu will include morning staples such as pour over coffee, espresso, and cold brew as well as pastries from Crema Bakery, breakfast tacos, sandwiches like Chicken Salad Croissant and Avocado BLT, a few wholesome salads and cheese boards. For later in the day, guests can expect classic cocktails like Negronis, Manhattans, Old Fashioneds and martinis as well as local craft beer and selected wine options. Evening eats will highlight a delicious selection of bar snacks, and cheese boards.

Velouria is located on the northwest corner of the Davis SoCo Apartments at 3801 S Congress Ave in Suite 116 with operating hours from 7 a.m. – 2 a.m. daily. Guests will find plenty of free parking available on Congress, in the retail spaces provided.
