Summertime means Tiki Week and this Vodka Girl is excited to attend and try some of the refreshing cocktails to be served this week.
Launched in 2012, Texas Tiki Week was founded by members of the Austin chapter of the United States Bartenders’ Guild and is a week-long celebration of tiki cocktails and culture. Bars, restaurants and tiki luminaries from across the country unite in Austin for a week filled with an exotic mix of educational, social and philanthropic events.

Alamo Drafthouse “Cocktails & Cinema” presents Beach Blanket Bingo
Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar – Thursday, August 6 at 7 PM
Screening of the 60s beach culture classic with special cocktail menu crafted by Alamo Drafthouse’s Bill Norris. All moviegoers receive a complimentary armadillo tiki mug to take home! Tickets available online at Drafthouse.com.
‘Hollywood Havana’ and the Secret Mix
The Roosevelt Room, 307 West 5th Street – Friday, August 7 at 9 PM
The critically-acclaimed Jigglewatts Burlesque Revue takes you on a tropical holiday through time and space to the glamour of the golden era of the silver screen, with a special cocktail menu that night featuring Caña Brava Rum and Giffard liqueurs.
The cocktail menu will feature recipes from some of Austin’s finest bar teams who competed in the 86 Company “Secret Mix” competition — with the ultimate winner being revealed at this show! Guest bartender, Mindy Kucan (Hale Pele, Portland) is behind the stick!
Doors at 9pm; Show begins promptly at 10:30pm. General public and at the door tickets are $25.
