Based on celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain’s novel BONE IN THE THROAT, the film is a gritty fast paced story about a young ambitious chef who while showing off his culinary skills, finds himself trapped as a witness to a murder in his own kitchen. He gets pulled into the East End London mob by his Uncle who expects him to step up and join the family business. He now has to work quickly to undo his uncle’s mess, while staying alive and out of jail.
While film feels like a busy story told in quick fashion, Director Graham Henman creates a film that comes to life in this dark, violent narrative. The overall production value reasonably well done, but foodies will walk away with disappointment because there is very little time devoted to culinary arts. So don’t expect to see any fantastic display of food in this film. Overall, this will be a great film to watch one night on Netflix!
