SXSW has released an expansive list of free events and programming available to the public, including badge holders and non-badge holders.  With opportunities for learning, inspiration and entertainment, entry to the following is free to the public and does not require a badge or credential to attend.

 

SXSW Outdoor Stage (March 19-21, Lady Bird Lake)

The SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake, SXSW’s largest stage, features a three-day series of free concerts. This year’s lineup includes:

Wellness Expo (March 14-15, Palmer Events Center)

Presented by Seedlip and created to fuel your mind, body, and soul, the SXSW Wellness Expo is returning for its third year with over 150 wellness lifestyle brands participating. This exhibition brings together thousands of individuals interested in exploring and participating in healthy living to engage first-hand with the rapidly growing health and wellness industry.

Offering unique and quality programming, the Wellness Expo consists of three distinct areas: the Wellness Stage, Conscious Conversations, presented by Lifeway, and the Fitness Stage, presented by Vuori Clothing. Highlights include:

  • Austinite Adrienne Mishler of Yoga with Adriene, a YouTube channel with over 6 million subscribers, will be speaking as well as hosting a community class on the Fitness Stage

  • The teams behind Farmhouse Delivery and Lettuce Grow will be hosting a session touching upon topics such as local farming and sustainability practices

  • Local yoga and cycle instructor and influencer Gustavo Padron will be leading a session on the Fitness Stage

  • Co-founder and co-CEO of Sakara Life, one of the nation’s leading plant-based meal subscription services, Whitney Tingle

  • Former NFL Player, UT Football legend, and founder of local CBD company Real Wellness Ricky Williams will be speaking on the Wellness Stage

eMLS Cup (March 21)

Presented by PlayStation, the eMLS Cup is the marquee tournament of eMLS, the esports and gaming property of Major League Soccer, capping off the competitive season with the largest prize pool. Built around the EA SPORTS™ FIFA franchise, eMLS converges gaming and soccer to grow its next generation of fans. Attendees who catch the eMLS Cup at SXSW will not only get to learn by watching the best FIFA players in North America battle it out on stage to be crowned eMLS Cup champion, but they will also be part of an environment where FIFA, soccer, and music come together.

Flatstock 73 (March 19-21, Austin Convention Center, Exhibit Hall 4)

Presented by the American Poster Institute (API), Flatstock 73 will display the works of the world’s top gig poster artists. The show provides a way for talented artists to present their varying styles, colors and techniques, and for the audience to purchase fine poster art and meet the creators.

SXSW EDU Expo (SXSW EDU, March 11)

The Expo serves as the central hub for innovations in learning at SXSW EDU. The dynamic space features a discovery-based learning Playground, curated programming, and networking, alongside interactive exhibits showcasing what’s new and next in education. Highlights include:

  • SXSW Art Program and ARTECHOUSE presents Future Sketches, an immersive digital artspace, made to stimulate interest in the limitless possibilities of technology, science, and creativity

  • A PBS KIDS Character Meet & Greet, where attendees can snap photos with characters from PBS KIDS shows such as Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum, Let’s Go Luna!, and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood

  • Cactus Makes Perfect, a hands on workshop where participants will learn how to weave academics into cooking, and will have the opportunity to make tortillas and nopal salad

 

SXSW Spotlight Showcases (March 16-22)

The SXSW Music Festival features 1700+  Showcasing Artists from all over the globe performing a wide range of genres. Held at 90+ live music venues around downtown Austin for 30,000 industry reps, 3,000 media members and thousands of exuberant fans. A selection of these Music Festival showcases have been made free and open to the public.

Community Screenings (March 14-15, AFS Cinema, Long Center – Rollins Theater)

Enjoy SXSW Film at Community Screenings. All community screenings take place at the AFS Cinema and the Rollins Theater at the Long Center. Screen selections such as AFS ShortCASE, Faces of Austin, Austin School of Film Community Works, and many more!

 

SXSW Community Conversations (March 13-15)

Community Conversations powered by The Birthing Point, brings a series of panels and events hosted by POC that aim to educate, inspire and provide networking opportunities.

 

ReThink Austin 2020 (March 14)

Presented by the Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTM) and Harlem Labs, ReThink Austin 2020 strives to cultivate a fluent community of diverse professionals focusing on topics that are impacting the underserved communities of Austin.

SXSW Marketplace (March 19-21, Austin Convention Center, Exhibit Hall 5)

The SXSW Marketplace is a collection of pop-up shops, featuring dozens of unique, local, national, and global brands that create a unique shopping experience at the epicenter of SXSW. The Marketplace is curated for attendees to find the freshest trends in clothing, accessories, art, and more.

 

20×2 at SXSW (March 13, The Parish)

The 20×2 at SXSW event takes twenty creatives and gives them two minutes to answer a question before a live audience. 20×2 has been showcased at SXSW for the past nineteen years.

SXSW Second Play Stage (March 13-21)

The SXSW Second Play Stage series features official SXSW Showcasing Artists performing happy hour sets at select Austin hotels. These shows provide an excellent opportunity to see completely stripped-back, intimate performances from unique artists.

 

Community Service Awards (March 14, 5-7PM, JW Marriot, Salon E)

Presented by Kendra Scott, the SXSW Community Service Awards honor and celebrate six individuals and six organizations for their dedication to fostering positive community impact.
