Wishing for something fun and different to do with your family this holiday? Why not mix it up? Mix up some Reindeer Dust, that is! Making and sprinkling Reindeer Dust is a magical new tradition sweeping the nation, and Kate Dwyer shares the special recipe below from her beautiful, interactive new book Reindeer Dust.
It’s as easy as gathering the family together, a mixing bowl, and a few ingredients – after you’ve made your batch of Reindeer Dust, take it outside to sprinkle the sparkling goodness onto the ground so the reindeer can spot your house from the sky! Children and parents alike will feel the magic and look forward to the tradition for years to come.
(Makes 15-20 servings)
2 cups oats for energy
1/2 cup bran for strength
1/4 cup brown sugar to sparkle
20 small cellophane bags
Decorative drawstring bags
Mix together all ingredients.
Scoop 2 tablespoons of mixture into a small cellophane bag.
Tie with a bow.
Insert the cellophane bag into a decorative bag.
Sprinkle the Reindeer Dust on Christmas Eve.
You are now done and ready to share the reindeer fun!
